Hong Kong  Men And Womens 7s team  Qualify for the All China Games 


The 12th National Games of the People's Republic of China will be held in the northeastern province of Liaoning from 31 August to 12 September 2013. Liaoning will be the sixth provincial level host of the games, following Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shandong. A total of 350 events in 31 sports will be held at the games. The rugby 7s qualifying rounds took place in Beijing

Hong Kong  Men And Womens 7s team  Qualify for the All China Games  .The The Hong Kong national men's Sevens qualified today by beaten Xin Jiang province 65-0 and with that victory comes a top 5 finish and qualification for the China games later this year. The women qualfied a few days back.


For the Men The tournament is not over as they have drawn Beijing in the semi finals which although is a tough draw is winnable and the team is certainly focused to try and bring home the trophy!!

Hong Kong have won their last game of the day against Mongolia 45-0. 

Hong Kong then won their second game 35-5 against Shanghai.initely the team to beat. They won their second game 62-0, but we will just keep building on our performances and focusing on what we do well".

Against a top 2 province poor ball retention and missed one on one tackles proved costly for the team.

Last play of the game try to Sichuan. One more game to go against Ho Bei. A must win game to have a chance to get into the main quarter finals.

Hong Kong will face Shandong in the quarter final tomorrow 1040.

Game 1

HKG 12 - Shandong 26

After leading 12-0 Shandong fought to level the scores at halftime. A yellow card to HKG allowed Shandong momentum and HKG couldn't hold off the pressure. 

 

Game 2

HKG 12 - Sichuan 7

The team applied pressure and held onto the ball for long periods of time. Held off a final burst of pressure from Sichuan to win and get into the 5th/6th play off game at 1625 against Shanghai.

Fantastic game where the girls showed maturity on defense and patience on attack.
