DEFENDING CHAMPS LAOS FACE OFF AGAINST CAMBODIA

The HSBC Asian 5 Nations Rugby Series 2010 comes to a close this Saturday with the 29th match played in Asia over the past 11 weeks.

Japan recorded their first ever ANZ Pacific Nations Cup victory over Samoa, as the Asian Five Nations champions beat the hosts 31-23 at Apia Park.

The men’s national rugby team of the Islamic Republic of Iran took its second consecutive win over a higher seeded team after a 19-6 win over Pakistan in today’s HSBC Asian 5 Nations (HSBC A5N) Division III Final.  Guam easily handled the hosts Indonesia in the 3rd/4th place playoff today winning 49-12.

Jordan edged Mongolia 29 – 21 in the first semi final of the HSBC A5N Division IV competition on Wednesday.

The men’s national rugby team of the Islamic Republic of Iran upended the higher seeded Guam national team 44-11 in the opening semi final of the HSBC Asian 5 Nations Division III (HSBC A5N) tournament played today in Jakarta.

 

In the second semi final, top seeds Pakistan barely held off a fierce challenge from a vastly improved Indonesia side 13-11.

he Pakistan national rugby team is in the final stages of its most rigorous training for the Asian 5 Nations tournament yet. The national team takes on host nation Indonesia in the opening match of the HSBC Asian 5 N Division III competition on 9th June, 2010

Playing with an all Filipino heritage team for the first time in its history, the Philippines National Rugby team won the HSBC Asian Five Nations (HSBC A5N) Division II competition today with a solid 34-12 victory over hosts India.

Rugby India and the Philippines Volcanoes upset the Asian rugby formbook today in New Delhi as the HSBC Asian 5 Nations (HSBC A5N) made its debut in India.

The HSBC Asian 5 Nations (HSBC A5N) is breaking new ground in its third year by visiting India for the first time for the Division II Tournament.

 

Hosted by Rugby India, the Division II competition features top seeds Thailand, China, India and Division III 2009 champions the Philippines.

 

The matches are being played at the same venue that will host the Rugby Sevens competition at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in October.
